Need some new shoes????? Pink is the word

I have finally found my obsession with pink. I suppose after all the years of protesting, it has finally come to hit me full swing. Blush seems to be on my mind, despite the fall colors swarming the shelves. I grabbed a pair of Steve Madden black pumps from a free pile. They were cute, although pretty worn out..... BUT... they fit like a glove so I didn't have the heart to throw them out. Tonight's craft is re purposing a pair of old shoes..... see pics below! Let me know what you think.

Cute.... but torn a bit and loved a little too much!

SOOOO..... I painted over the black with some Acrylic Gesso

I painted two coats and did some cleaning while they dried

I filled the shoes with tissue paper, and sprayed them with Krylon pink, ballet flat spray paint <3

They took three coats.... I love my new pink shoes!

NO time for crafting makes me VERY angry!

Due to the fact I own a house built in 1824....... and things constantly seem to be falling apart apart.... and my roommate and husband seem to be the most disorganized and dirty people I've EVER met. Crafting and sister time have taken their place on the back burner.

Last night seemed to be a good hair night. After I almost died of laughter, watching my sister and my husband do yoga with the Wii Kinect (couldn't participate because of a bad knee), I decided to try some hair styles out on my sister. She will be going to be attending a wedding next weekend and needs a pretty updo :)

This one is for fun!
 A pretty bow~

(right) this is my personal favorite.... a low romantic twist  Take the hair and brush toward the top of  the neck. then using a line of bobby pins, criss-cross the pins making a base. then using two fingers, wrap the hair, and roll it up. secure with pins, using the base pins as anchors. Leave the left (or right it's all preference) loose to create a vintage swept look.

This was accomplished by taking the hair around the crown, twisting it to the back of her crown, and pinning it using bobby pins. The bottom was then rolled up and pinned at the top of her neck

It's a hairy option.....

Happy Tuesday.....

Now that Grad School work is finally over (And graduation is right around the corner) I finally have time to get back to the things I love..... DIY Crafting.... Gardening.... and Playing around with Hair styles (wedding season is here and lots of fun friends who are willing to let me experiment with creative updos).

One of my best friends is getting married in a couple weeks, and I will be doing the hair for the bridemaids as well as the bride (ambitious? or just plain crazy? Anywho I've decided to post a couple of styles that I have done. To keep some of the styles the same, I was going with a braid theme!

Waterfall Braid with curls
Another Waterfall Braid, with Wave

So I have been pretty obsessed with waterfall braids, they are so simple but elegant. Add some curls or waves and it looks beautiful. Heidi (above) and Jamie (Left) both have pretty natural wavy textures, so this style is easy to execute.Seriously.... only took about 5 minutes to accomplish this style!

Emily (Right) has a little more hair than the average person. (Since we're cousins.... I have to admit I have the same thick, curly/wavy hair that all the cousins on my mother's side seem to possess!) Emily's hair was braided down into a low updo. Love how this looks on her, and easy to accomplish with the thickness, and curly nature of her hair (Hair Tip: try to pick styles that work with the hair texture, not against... just makes life easier!)
Waterfall Braid into bun

Allison is my bride to be.... these styles were practice runs. In the end we decided on a different look, but I will share a couple of trial runs. Allison has really fine, silky (really long) hair. It is really difficult to work with, but it's sooo pretty! Above, I did a waterfall braid into a low bun, wrapping the braid around. To the right, I curled her hair for texture, twisted the sides back and pinned her curls into a messy bun. (Decided it looked too prom-ish). In the end I decided to do a high sock bun, with a braided head band (pictures to come-after the wedding along with the other bridesmaids and their hair) Wish me luck!
